Mitrovice, August 18, 2023: There was vibrant engagement at the second meeting of the Community Forum for Public Interest took place in Mitrovica South. Discussions focused on concrete solutions to pressing issues in order for positive transformations of the community.
During the forum, two noteworthy projects garnered unanimous support. The first initiative aims to alleviate a common concern by introducing two bicycle parking lots. These parking spaces will enhance accessibility and convenience, with one planned for the bustling square and another strategically placed near the lake.
In an effort of strengthening the experience for residents and visitors alike, the second project holds significant promise. Mitrovica's monuments are set to embrace modern technology through the installation of QR codes. These codes, easily accessible via smartphones, will unlock a treasure trove of information in Albanian, English, and Serbian. With a simple scan, individuals will delve into the stories that have shaped Mitrovica's heritage, fostering a deeper connection with the city's past.
The productive second meeting of the Community Forum for Public Interest underscores the commitment of municipality to collaboratively address challenges and foster meaningful change. These projects not only hold practical value but also symbolize the relevance of the FIERC project to foster interethnic cooperation and reconciliation.
FIERC project is implemented by the Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS), in partnership with the New Social Initiative (NSI), and funded the Stability Pact Fund of the German Federal Foreign Office.
