SUMMER SCHOOL: CHALLENGES OF GLOBAL SECURITY ENVIRONMENT

KCSS researcher Skender Perteshi has participated in the Summer School for Young Professionals “Challenges of Global Security Environment” which was organized by Centre for European and North-Atlantic Affairs (CENAA), from 21 June 2014 – 28 June 2014 at Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia.

This summer school was followed by more than 25 representatives from Think Tanks, academia and independent experts coming from different countries from Europe and Asia. The aim of this conference was to discuss the challenges of global challenges of security environment such as: Russian - Ukraine crises, Energy Security, Terrorism and Extremism – cases of Syria and Afghanistan, South Caucasus security development- and EU-NATO enlargement in Western Balkans and Eastern Europe.

The participants had the opportunity to learn, discuss and the exchange experiences with some eminent lecturers and experts coming from different well-known institutions such as: George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies (a bilateral German/American defense institution); Ambassador of Poland in Slovakia; USA Ambassador in Slovakia, and leading experts in from Slovakia Think Tank. During this event the participants had the opportunity to visit defense, historical, and Touristic institution of Slovakia such as: visiting at Sliac Air Base Complex in Slovakia and National Museum of Slovakia, at Banjska Bistrica, and Chopok Mountain of Low Tatras.
