On the framework of the research activities, KCSS-s researchers Donika Emini and Plator Avdiu have participated in the regional conference on “Police Reforms in the European Integration contexts of the Western Balkans”, held in Podgorica on September 7, 2016. The conference aimed to discuss and identify the main challenges in the police of the regional countries (such as Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina), also the need of the relevant reforms within the police institution sector.
The KCSS researcher, Plator Avdiu during the conference, highlighted the importance of reforms in human resource management in the Kosovo Police, especially the need for fair and transparent process of early retirement of police officers, as well as for the promotion of police officers. He also mentioned the lack of social insurance as a challenge and vital need for police officers, but also the need to strengthen internal control mechanisms to combat police corruption. This conference was organized within the project "Western Balkans Pulse for Police Integrity and Reliability - POINTPULSE". Furthermore, KCSS research team participated at the workshop of the project in Podgorica (September 5 to 7) associated with the assessment and measurement of police integrity in the Western Balkans.
