The Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) in conjunction with the Clingandel Institute and the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in The Hague, organised a roundtable discussion Kosovo’s prospects for EU integration. The panel was composed of KCSS Chair of Board, Dr Florian Qehaja; General Secretary of Ministry of European Integration, Mr Kushtrim Cukaj and Assistant Professor at Utrecht University, Dr Kushtrim Istrefi.

The roundtable was attended by representatives of Dutch MFA; diplomatic presence in The Hague; civil society organisations and former Dutch diplomats that served in the Balkans. The discussion was focused on the issue of rule of law, dialogue with Serbia as well as visa liberalisation process for Kosovo. The participants contributed proactively in the debate by warning that enlargement fatigue of the Western Balkans and lack of delivery by the EU on issues such as visa liberalisaiton for Kosovo may have severe implications for the stability of the region. The discussion was focused on the need to structure better the assistance of the EU and member states in order to reduce the potential for third actors’ influence and increasing trust towards the EU.

The roundtable was held under the Chatham House Rules. This project was financed by the Open Society Foundation in the framework of the KCSS project: "Building bridges: Europeanization through the enhancement of cooperation between KCSS and Think-tanks in EU".
