Kosovar Center for Security Studies participated at workshop of the POINTPULSE project in Sofia regarding police integrity and anti-corruption policies in the Police of four regional countries, namely Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
KCSS researcher, Skender Përteshi presented a research on the Security Vetting in Kosovo as an important procedure for the security sector. Bearing in mind that the Kosovo Intelligence Agency is responsible to carry out security vetting for all the Kosovo public institutions, Përteshi emphasized in particular the security clearance in the Kosovo Police which started in 2013. Furthermore, he has mentioned that there is an immediate need to reform the process in order to ensure the legality during the implementation of security vetting procedures, to ensure its impartiality as well as it should be established an independent agency under the Assembly of Kosovo on security vetting with the aim to be independent from the Government and Kosovo Intelligence Agency. On the other hand, during the workshop representatives of civil society organizations from Bulgaria shared their views on anti-corruption policies in the Police sector and depoliticizing the Police from the political influence.
“Western Balkans Pulse for Police Integrity and Trust – POINTPULSE” is a regional network of civil society organizations of the four Western Balkan countries – Kosovar Center for Security Studies (KCSS) from Kosovo, Belgrade Center for Security Policy (BCSP) from Serbia, Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) from Serbia, Centre for Security Studies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Institute Alternative (IA) from Montenegro. The project is supported by the European Union through Civil Society Facility programme (EuropeAid/136-034/C/ACT/Multi).
