COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN PREVENTING VIOLENT EXTREMISM” - PEJA MUNICIPALITY

Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS), today, 08 November 2016 has organized the conference on“Community involvement in preventing violent extremism” in Peja Municipality.

Upon successful completion of debates with students of four high schools in Peja, this conference aimed to bring together representatives of local level institutions to discuss challenges of Kosovo in dealing with violent extremism and radicalization, and finding best practices to prevent and combat this phenomenon.

Invited as panelists at this conferece were:

• Mr. Florian Qehaja, Executive Director of KCSS

• Mr. Engelbert Zefaj, Municipality of Peja

• Mr. Nue Nikolla, Commander of Police Station in Peja

• Mr. Musli Arifaj, Head Of Islamic Association in Peja

The conference was also attended by directors of high schools of Peja, civil society, media and  representatives of youth council of Peja.

This conference is organized in the framework of KCSS programme to counter violent extremism supported by the US Embassy in Prishtina, a project that aims to engage citizens' and community of 11 Municipalities of Kosovo in countering and preventing violent extremism and radicalization in Kosovo.
