PREVENTING AND COUNTERING VIOLENT EXTREMISM IN KOSOVO THROUGH YOUTH AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

In the framework of the project “Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism in Kosovo through Youth and Community Engagement”, on 08 th of October 2018, Kosovar Centre for Security Studies has organized a workshop with parents and academic staff of High Schools in the Municipality of Mitrovica.

The aim of this activity was to inform the parents and academic staff on violent extremism phenomenon and highlight their role in preventing it. Participants were informed on the importance of effective functioning of Student – Parent – Teacher triangle for preventing negative phenomena, namely violent extremism, and what methods can be used from teachers and parents to identify the signs of children radicalization on an early stage.

This activity gathered high school teachers and directors from Municipality of Mitrovica, members of parents’ councils in the respective schools and municipal representatives.

This activity is organized in the framework of the project “Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism in Kosovo through Youth and Community Engagement” supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Kosovo and is being implemented in six municipalities: Mitrovica, Lipjan, Prishtina, Skenderaj, Obiliq and Drenas.
