THE ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNITY IN REINTEGRATING RETURNED CITIZENS' FROM THE CONFLICT

Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) today, on 18th of December 2019 in Municipality of Prizren, has organized a panel discussion on the topic "The Importance of Reintegrating Citizens Returning from the Syrian Conflict and the Role of the Community in this Process".

During this meeting it was discussed how community involvement in combating violent extremism has proven to be one of the primary elements in creating sustainable communities. Therefore, through these debates KCSS is aiming to identify the potential of building community sustainability in municipalities.

The panel discussion included: Mr. Florim Shatrolli, Representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Department for Prevention and Reintegration; Mr. Vesel Gashi, Representative from the Kosovo Police, Prizren Regional Directorate; Mrs. Linda Simitçiu, ISDY, Prizren,

The panelists explained more about their engagement and the role of the institutions where they work on the importance of Reintegration of Citizens Returning from the Syrian Conflict and the role of society in this process.

The meeting was moderated by: Mr. Skender Perteshi, Kosovar Centre for Security Studies. Citizens, members of civil society, municipal officials and others participated in the discussion.

This event was held in the framework of the project: “Building resilience: Communities against violent extremism” supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kosovo.
