The Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) organized a focus group with representatives of the Kosovo Police as part of its ongoing efforts to address violent extremism, hate speech, and emerging security challenges in both digital and physical spaces.
The discussion highlighted that while no clearly structured right-wing extremist groups are currently identified in Kosovo, there is a growing presence of hate speech and ideological narratives that may contribute to radicalization. Representatives of the Kosovo Police emphasized that such cases are addressed through standard procedures for investigating hate crimes, as well as through inter-institutional cooperation.
Particular attention was given to the role of social media in spreading hate speech and threats, as well as the challenges posed by cybercrime and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. Preventive efforts, such as awareness-raising activities and lectures in schools, were also highlighted as key components of institutional response.
This focus group contributes to strengthening evidence-based analysis and supports the development of more effective policies and institutional practices in Kosovo.
