INCREASING THE TRUST BETWEEN KOSOVO POLICE AMONG SERBIAN COMMUNITY IN KOSOVO

The aim of this project is to identify the extent to which non-majority communities trust Kosovo Police and address the issues of community policing in the Serbian majority municipalities in northern Kosovo as well as in south.

About Project

Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) with the support of the Balkan Trust for Democracy (BTD) since January 1st 2019, has started implementing the project “Increasing the trust between Kosovo Police among Serbian community in Kosovo”.

The goal of this project is to identify the extent to which non-majority communities trust Kosovo Police and address the issues of community policing in the Serbian majority municipalities in northern Kosovo as well as in south.

Objectives:

• To facilitate the dialogue between the communities in Majority of Serbian municipalities and Kosovo Police;

To increase the trust of the non-majority communities in Kosovo towards Kosovo Police;

• To identify and assess the basic security and safety concern of non-majority communities in Kosovo and advocate for addressing of those concerns;

• To research the level of implementation of security agreements achieved as a part of technical and political dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade and advocating for further implementation;

The project will be implemented during the first half of 2019, and will cover the Municipality of Mitrovica, Leposavic, Gracanica and Shterpce.
