The third KYFN workshop on Security Sector Oversight – Challenges and Remedies

The Centre for Security, Development and Rule o Law (DCAF) jointly with the Kosovar Center for Security Studies (KCSS) organized a study visit to Geneva, including a course on “Security Sector Oversight – Challenges and Remedies” for the 12 members of the Kosovo Young Faces Network (KYFN) 2011.

The main objective of the activity was:

• to provide insights from country case studies and lessons learned related to parliamentary oversight of the security sector with a particular focus on intelligence accountability;
• to discuss potential solutions and remedies and to provide participants with a platform for discussions on the relevance of the subject matter for the Kosovo context;
• to further build participants’ technical skills related to policy paper drafting on issues related to security governance and oversight in Kosovo.

The workshop concluded the cycle of three capacity building activities for this target group. Amongst the 13 policy papers written by the participants, only four of them were selected to be published.
