Fostering Policy Dialogue: TRAIN Programme 2011

Organized by:  German Council on Foreign Relations

Supported by: German Foreign Office

Project starting from:  03rd – 06th April, 2011

Amongst the very large number of applications from think tanks throughout the Western Balkans region the KCSS is the only think tank from Kosovo which has been selected to participate in the TRAIN Programme 2011 organized by the German Council on Foreign Relations and funded by the German Foreign Office. The main goal of this TRAIN Programme (Think Tanks providing Research and Advice through Interaction and Networking) is to foster the fruitful policy dialogue between think tanks and political actors in the Western Balkans.

The seminar gathers 14 representatives from seven different NGOs (two from each organization) throughout the Western Balkans region (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia) for the training sessions on policy paper writing. Amongst the first activities of this training project is a seminar which will take place in Dubrovnik from 3rd April to 6th April 2011. This training will give researchers the opportunity to introduce to each other and to discuss their respective research topics.

The KCSS researcher’s team will be composed by Mr. Mentor VRAJOLLI and Miss Sofije KRYEZIU.

Beside the Dubrovnik Workshop there will be trainings organized also in Berlin and Brussels which will be focused on drafting the policy paper and its public dissemination strategy of the research results.

In the end of this TRAIN Programme the drafted policy papers will be published by the participating organizations with DGAP retaining the right to republish the policy paper on its website or in print.

The published papers will be presented to their respective national parliamentarian committees in a public hearing or conference which will take place in late October or early November 2011. A representative of the German Embassy will be invited to participate in this event.
