Enabling Just Change in the International Health Care Governance - COVID-19 Pandemic and Lessons Learned from the Western Balkans

Since September 2022, Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) has commenced implementing this regional project in cooperation with Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP). The project esencially focuses on research and advocacy-based activities following the COVID-19 pandemic management in Kosovo and the Western Balkan countries.

About Project

KCSS will be engaged in drafting and producing a report (policy brief) on how the pandemic situation has been handled in Kosovo by state institutions and major international organizations and mechanisms, such as United Nations, World Health Organization, and COVAX. In doing so, KCSS will undertake research activities and interview key stakeholders. The report which will be a joint initiative as a final study with other partner organizations within this project will serve to advocate for structural and policy change in the Western Balkan countries and in the functioning of WHO and COVAX to be more prepared for the next pandemic. In terms of advocacy, the KCSS research team jointly with partners from the Western Balkans will participate in a study visit in Brussels or Geneva to discuss key findings and recommendations of the research report with senior representatives of the EU and the WHO.

The project is funded by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and its duration is from September 2022 to May 2023.
