About Project

Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) from February 2019, has started the implementation of the project "Celebrating of NATO 70th Anniversary and 20th Anniversary of KFOR Mission’s Deployment in  Kosovo with Youth, Women and Non-Majority Ethnic Communities".

The overall objective of the project is to engage Kosovo’s general public as well as non-specialized audiences such as youth, women and ethnic communities to celebrate the 70 th anniversary of the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty - NATO@70. Apart from this, the project will mark as well the 20 th anniversary of deployment of KFOR (NATO-led peacekeeping mission in Kosovo) mission in Kosovo through organizing awareness activities on NATO’s contribution and role on the domestic, regional and global level.

This project aims to encourage and boost the existent cooperation of Kosovo institutions with KFOR and NALT (NATO Advisory and Liaison Team in Kosovo) in the light of enhanced interaction.

Accordingly, the project objectives and activities will significantly contribute to strengthening the cooperation amid parties through active engagement of relevant target audiences on understanding the role of NATO in Kosovo.

The 70th anniversary of NATO which will be coinciding with the 20th anniversary since KFOR’s mission deployed in Kosovo will provide an excellent impetus for undertaking a range of activities through this project. Marking two milestones in Kosovo, NATO will have an exclusive opportunity to increase communication and awareness about its role in Kosovo and Western Balkans. As a result, this project has designed activities to raise awareness of specific and general audiences about the NATO support for Kosovo and the region, as well as assess the impact of this support. In this regard, the project has tailored the activities to ensure that it will tackle the experienced audience involving policy makers, and activities with youth, women and ethnic communities to stimulate thinking and discussing about NATO role in Kosovo while raising awareness on such matters.

The project is supported by NATO Public Diplomacy Division, and it will be implemented from February to December 2019.
