Kosovar Center for Security Studies (KCSS) organizes a conference on “Women and Security Sector in Western Balkans: The implementation of UNSCR 1325” on Thursday, 3rd October 2013.
This conference will be held as part of the regional cooperation 'Women and Security Sector', respectively between Kosovar Centre for Security Studies from Pristina, Belgrade Centre for Security Policy from Belgrade, Institute for Democracy and Mediation from Tirana, Women to Women from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Center for Research and Policy from Skopje. This project and the conference are strongly supported by UN Women. The conference will present preliminary findings on the role and participation of women in the public sector, namely in the security institutions. A brief analysis on the current situation of women's participation in the Kosovo Police and Kosovo Security Force will be the focus of the conference. Additionally, the paper also analyzes the process of drafting the National Plan on the Implementation of UNSCR 1325 and its consequences.
The conference will have a discussion nature with invited panelists. The findings will be used in the upcoming research efforts of the partners.
All presentations will be held in Albanian/English, and vice-versa translation will be provided.
