WOMEN AND SECURITY SECTOR IN WESTERN BALKANS: THE IMPLEMENTATION OF UNSCR 1325

This conference was held as part of the regional cooperation 'Women and Security Sector', respectively between Kosovar Centre for Security Studies from Pristina, Belgrade Centre for Security Policy from Belgrade, Institute for Democracy and Mediation from Tirana, Women to Women from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Center for Research and Policy from Skopje. This project and the conference are strongly supported by UN Women. The conference presented preliminary findings on the role and participation of women in the public sector, namely in the security institutions. A brief analysis on the current situation of women's participation in the Kosovo Police and Kosovo Security Force was the focus of the conference. Additionally, the paper also analyzes the process of drafting the National Plan on the Implementation of UNSCR 1325 and its consequences.
