ANALYZING THE REINTEGRATION PROCESS OF RETURNED FOREIGN FIGHTERS BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

About Project

With the support of International Republican Institute (IRI), starting from September 2019, Kosovar Centre for Security Studies will implement the project titled: “Analyzing the reintegration process of returned foreign fighters back to the community”.

The aim of this project is to analyze the reintegration process and challenges for reintegration of the returned foreign fighters in Kosovo. Through this project KCSS will analyze the current state of reintegration process of the Kosovo’s reintegration efforts of the former terrorist fighters and the community readiness to accept individuals that were subject of violent extremism and radicalization in Kosovo. Moreover, the project will also analyze the regional and international practices on reintegration of the foreign terrorist fighters and violent  extremist individuals, and will try to find adequate models which may be implemented in Kosovo.

This research project is also one of the activities foreseen in the action plan of the national strategy for countering of violent extremism and radicalization and is not implemented yet. The project will further support the implementation of national strategy on C/PVE and its action plan for the 2019 period. The project activities will be implemented in Gjilan, Kacanik, Prizren, Prishtina and Mitrovica municipality.
