SALON: ‘WHAT DRIVES KOSOVARS TO FIGHT IN THE NAME OF ISLAM?’'

Institutite D4D in cooperation with Kosovar Center for Security Studies, on tuesday, May 12, have organized the Salon:‘What drives Kosovars to fight in the name of Islam?’'. Salon was held at Library - Dit' e Nat' where over 70 people participated.

The lead-openers of this Salon were Shpend Kursani, researcher, Ahmet Sadriu, spokesperson of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, Arbana Xharra, investigative journalist and Fatos Makolli Director of CT at Kosovo Police. The Salon was moderated by Fadil Lepaja, and the op-ed will be written by Shkodran Ramadani.

Emphasizing that Kosovars are not fighting in the name of Islam, the lead-openers along with other participants discussed about the motivation that drives Kosovars to fight in Iraq and Syria, and about the measures that are being taken by the Islamic Community of Kosovo and Kosovo Police to end this situation. By the end of the Salon, there were some recommendations given, related to the actions that should be taken in order to prevent Kosovars from fighting other people’s wars.
