KCSS Researcher Donika Emini participated in a roundtable discussion on "Reducing the pressure of migration in Kosovo in the path towards EU membership." This roundtable was organized by the Austrian Society in Kosovo, UBT College and IG Alpbach Kosovo.

The purpose of this workshop was to discuss an integrated approach between labor market, migration policies and the education system aiming to increase employment and to reduce the pressure of migration in Kosovo.

Panellists present at the meeting were:

Andrew Russell - Representative of UNDP in Kosovo

Leon Malazogu - D4D Executive Director

Armend Muja - Professor at the College of UBT

Edmond Hajziri - Rector of the College UBT

KCSS researcher Donika Emini focused her speech on the presentation of the two KCSS research documents on migration, causes and the impact in the EU integration processes for Kosovo. Moreover, her presentation was focused on the causes of the recent wave of mass-migration towards the EU countries, and the perceptions of the citizens towards unemployment and isolation in Kosovo. As the Kosovo Security Barometer results show Kosovo citizens perceive the unemployment as the one of the biggest security threats. Special focus was given also the readmission process, and programs of the Government of Kosovo's reintegration and assistance to families who were deported from the EU countries.
