Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) has attended the inception meeting in the framework of the project: Opportunities for Preventing Violent Extremism through Intraregional and Cross-regional Exchange, held in Berlin.
The aim of the 18-month project is to combine innovative participatory research, peer-advice, policy advice and pilot dialogues on the topic of Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) in the Western Balkans, specifically in the countries of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Macedonia. Ultimately, the project aims to contribute to regional peace and reconciliation efforts in the Western Balkans by investigating, designing and presenting inclusive strategies to deal with youths at risk of radicalisation and violent extremism, with specific emphasis on the role of religious authorities and the education sector. it will do so by combining (1) simultaneous case study research by local experts in four Western Balkans countries; (2) intra-regional comparative research and exchange; and (3) cross-regional peer exchange with representatives from the MENA region and German institutions on their PVE experiences.
