Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) on 02 October 2017 has orgnized a focus group with citizens in Skopje, Macedonia, with focus on identifying the causes of radicalism and violent extremism in Macedonia. The participants of this meeting expressed their concerns about the spread of violent extremism and radicalism in Macedonia, their challenges in addressing this phenomenon, and the lack of institutional support from the Government of Macedonia in combating violent extremism and radicalism.
Furthermore, participants discussed the need for the local community and the Islamic Religious Community to prevent and combat violent extremism in Macedonia. Participants in this meeting were students, citizens, representatives of Macedonian governmental and local institutions, representatives of NGOs, representatives of the religious community and other participants.
This activity is part of the research project "Identifying causes of radicalism and violent extremism in Macedonia", supported by the Balkan Trust for Democracy, and implemented by the Kosovo Center for Security Studies (KCSS).
