KCSS Researcher Donika Emini attended the world forum for democracy held from 2 -7 November 2014 along with 15 other civil society, media and political activists from Kosovo as a part of the Prishtina School of Politics. The Strasbourg World Forum for Democracy is an annual gathering of leaders, opinion-makers, civil society activists, representatives of business, academia, media and professional groups to debate key challenges for democracies worldwide. This event brought together hundreds of young professionals’ part of the schools of politics in each respective country (mostly Eastern European) and other interested individuals from different countries throughout the world.

As a part of the School of Politics and a civil society representative, during these days Donika has  actively attended bilateral meetings with numerous diplomatic delegations to lobby for Kosovo accession to the Council of Europe. Besides, Donika has attended a reception hosted by the Consulate of Kosovo in Strasbourg where she had the chance to meet ambassadors from the UK, Norway, Germany, Latvia, Slovakia and Finland.  Furthermore, Donika has had the chance to attend roundtables and discussions on liberal democracy, e-democracy, the development of civil society and media in transitional countries, etc.

The insights gathered during the World Forum meetings inform the work of the Council of Europe and its numerous partners in the field of democracy and democratic governance.
