EMPOWERING WOMEN IN SECURITY SECTOR TO PROMOTE PEACE, SECURITY, INTER- INSTITUTIONAL AND INTER-DEPARTMENTAL PARTNERSHIP

FUQIZIMI I GRUAS NË SEKTORIN E SIGURISË ME QËLLIM TË PROMOVIMIT TË PAQËS, SIGURISË, PARTNERITETIT NDËR-INSTITUCIONAL DHE NDËR–DEPARTAMENTAL

KCSS Researcher, Donika Emini attended a workshop entitled "Empowering women in security sector to promote peace, security, inter- institutional and inter-departmental partnership". The event was organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) namely the Department of Public Safety. This workshop brought together participants, mainly Police Officers from Kosovo, Albania, Serbia and Montenegro, representatives of the Parliament of Kosovo, EULEX, OSCE, the Swedish Police and Civil Society.

The purpose of this workshop to discuss about the role of women in the security sector by preventing modern security threats (prevention of common threats, including radicalization and terrorism).

KCSS Researcher, Donika Emini in addition to general statistics on representation of women in the security sector in Kosovo, has focused her presentation on the role of KCSS in preventing violent extremism and the activities that KCSS has taken to strengthen the role of women in this regard. Among others, data from the Kosovo Security Barometer programe were presented, focusing on women's perceptions towards violent extremism in Kosovo, the treatment of people returning from Syria and Iraq.
