FLORIAN QEHAJA ATTENDED THE CONFERENCE: "FILLING THE BLACK HOLE: BRINGING KOSOVO INTO INTERNATIONAL POLICE COOPERATION ORGANIZATIONS"

KCSS Executive Director, Florian Qehaja attended the conference organized by the Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS) and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) with the theme: "Filling the Black Hole: Bringing Kosovo into international police cooperation organizations" .

Invited in the quality of expert, Florian Qehaja focused his presentation mainly on the themes of regional police cooperation in the Western Balkans, and regional initiatives which are made in the Western Balkans and are initiated by the European Union as a lack of initiative from regional countries.

During this meeting, Florian Qehaja emphasized that the security sector is a very important element, and membership in regional and international initiatives is crucial as it will create a network of cooperation between these countries. According to him, Serbia has had a proactive role in blocking Kosovo's membership in these initiatives and until September 2014, Kosovo has been a member in only 5 regional initiative.

In this conference, Qehaja presented a policy paper which has KCSS which will publish soon, which aims to evaluate the policeman profession in Kosovo.

KCSS Director, recommends Kosovo Police to be more active and to participate more in the forums that is already a member.

This meeting was attended also by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Head of crime investigation unit in EULEX, Representatives from the European Union Office, Civil Society representatives and journalists.
